Hindsey School Graduation
St. George’s, July 6, 2010 – The top student of the St. George’s Anglican Senior School in this year’s Common Entrance Examinations (CEE) will receive a brand new lap top computer as a prize reward.
Khalil Buckmire’s 127.23 CEE score placed him fifth overall in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. His score was just .53 behind the best performer in the national exam, Keline Peters of Beacon Junior School.
St. George’s Anglican, commonly referred to as “Hindsey School,’’ captured 103 Common Entrance passes, including three of the first 50 students.
MP for the Town of St. George, Hon. Peter David, Tuesday congratulated students and staff of the St. George’s Anglican School on their success.
“Congratulations. I urge you to continue to do well,’’ Mr. David in remarks at the school’s 2010 graduation at the Trade Centre, Morne Rouge.
MP David, Foreign Minister of Grenada, and a former “Hindsey School’’ student, also underscored the importance of education.
“Every student, every child, has capacity. The potential must be nurtured. Parents must nurture the gift that the child has,’’ said Mr. David, who offered the donation of a lap top to Buckmire.
The valedictorian at the graduation, Buckmire will be attending the Presentation Brothers’ College in September.
He described St. George’s Anglican as an “exceptional school’’ and a “noble institution.’’
“The St. George’s Anglican School is a well-balanced and well-rounded school,’’ said the young primary school graduate. “Our dominance in track and field is unsurpassed.’’
Buckmire also gave credit to the school’s teachers for their “hard work and motivation,’’ and to God, with whom “all things are possible.’’
Keynote speaker, Captain Marie Davis of the Salvation Army, also highlighted the need for God in children’s lives.
“Put God first,’’ she demanded. “Let him be your first priority in everything you do. God bless our graduates; God bless our parents; God bless our teachers.’’
Captain Davis also appealed to the students to persevere and to embrace values such as honesty and integrity.
The graduation ceremony, attended by parents, Anglican Church officials, and principal Nigel De Gale and his staff, included entertainment and the distribution of certificates and awards
